2016 enduranceWERX Group Rides

April 5th we will begin our outdoor training classes in Central Park. This year we will meet 6AM Tuesdays and Wednesday’s at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd entrance to the park (base of Harlem Hill). Sessions will start promptly at 6AM and for those wanting to connect to the ride we will use the Garmin Connect Live Track feature and post each morning to our Twitter and Facebook page.
Tuesday sessions will be 1 hour and start promptly at 6am. It will be our pace line day shooting for 4 laps total. We will warm-up for half a lap to Tavern on the green and then start single file pace line drills getting progressively faster each lap. The goal of these rides is to learn how to ride and conduct yourself in a fast group so that you can last as long as possible. Coaches will be around to educate and help learn the tactics and tricks to make the most of your ability. A major goal is making it a little further each week if you are not making it to the end. These rides can be challenging but finding the weaknesses in your riding and perseverance is the goal. Having gone through these rides your confidence will skyrocket and there are few events you encounter that will replicate it. If there is sufficient attendance we will have an A and B group.
Wednesday sessions will be longer 2 hour rides of double pace line and 18-20 mph average. The goal of these rides is to get more miles at a steady pace. We will include various drills and skills during the rides. Occasionally we will plan rides on these days out to River Rd up to Alpine or periodically test with a mid week metric century. These days are meant to be fun while getting some extra mileage.
If you are a current coaching client these rides are included with your program. If you would like access to only the rides we also have a general membership for 175/month. All clients must sign a Waiver to attend the Outdoor group rides.
Attached are a couple of articles on pace line etiquette which we will use during these rides. We are very fortunate to not have any major Incedents and It is due partially to knowing these rules. We strive to act professional when in the park.
Remember, it is a privilege to be in Central Park and be able to do these rides. We are not the only users. We want to push each other and get a good workout but always ride with safety, responsibly, and with the entire group in mind.

THE COMMUNICATION

Like any good relationship communication is the key to success. The more feedback our coaches have, the better we will be able to personalize your program. We encourage all athletes to get into the habit of logging in daily with workouts.

THE DEDICATION

Realizing your goals takes commitment. If you cannot adhere to the training program, attaining your goals may be in jeopardy. Proper training also requires a progressive increase in training time and intensity. If you are unable to meet your training schedule or fall behind in this periodization, it is imperative you discuss it with your coach. We will work with you to revise the training plan so you continue to progress
